Sarah Palin is a well-known politician during John McCain’s 2008 presidential campaign.
Sarah is still an involved politician today, but more and more attention has been paid to her personal life. She divorced her husband in 2020 after more than 30 years of marriage, and the details about the divorce were quite interesting, especially for the public eye.
Sarah Palin was born in Sandpoint, Idaho, in 1964, but spent her childhood in Alaska, where her parents moved just months after she was born.
It is said that Sarah was a very popular girl in high school and it was seen that she was born to be an important future leader. She was also the star of the high school basketball team.
Sarah said that basketball had a lot of impact in her life because she learned what it means to set a goal and how you have to become disciplined to achieve it and especially, you have to learn to work in a team. She also met her future husband, Todd Palin, at a basketball game.
Sarah said they were both poor at that point in their lives, so it made them work harder to afford to pay for their own wedding without having to ask for financial help fro their families.
The two have 5 children together: Track Charles James (1989), Bristol Sheeran Marie (1990), Willow Bianca Faye (born 1994), Piper Indy Grace (2001), Trig Paxson Van (2008), who suffers from Downs Syndrome.
Sarah Palin first worked as a journalist, and in 1992 she entered politics, where she managed to convince many people that she deserves to be voted. In 2006, Sarah became the first woman and youngest governor of Alaska.
Sarah was always supported by her husband and he encouraged her in everything she set to do. Todd never wanted to take advantage of his wife’s status, sometimes even avoiding talking to other people about Sarah’s career. It took a while for Todd to get used to all the attention he and his wife receive every time they leave the house.
Todd’s life is not a simple one either, he worked in oil production and was a member of Alaska’s Independence Party from 1995 to 2002. He is also a four-time champion of the world’s longest snowmobile race, called “Iron Dog.”
Sarah and Todd were seen as a model couple, especially when Sarah was chosen by John McCain as his running mate in 2008. At that time Todd was not scared of his wife’s success, but even helped her and took a big part of the tasks for raising children. However, although the two were trying to be good parents for their children, Sarah confessed that her 17-year-old daughter was 5 months pregnant.
This pregnancy was initially bad news for the whole family, and Sarah was so scared of what might happen that she even thought of adopting her own nephew and keeping her daughter’s pregnancy a secret so that no one would find out about the baby. But after news broke on the subject, Sarah and Todd said they were proud of their daughter and everything that was going to happen in their lives. It all ended well, because now Bristol is the mother of three children and a successful woman.
Although it seems that Sarah had a wonderful marriage, after 30 years, she received a divorce notice from her husband via email. Surely this news would have been painful for anyone. Sarah said she felt awful because she thought she had a strong marriage.
Here is Todd’s stated reason for the divorce: “incompatibility of temperament between the parties such that they find it impossible to live together as husband and wife.” However, Sarah was not ready to give up the marriage, so she said that the two go to couple therapy to see if they can save something.
Fortunately, her children offered support and were by her side during that difficult time. However, the divorce was finally completed in 2020.
Then came a time when Sarah decided not to talk about her personal life, especially divorce. However, in April 2022 she said that she is still recovering from the divorce and does not keep in touch with Todd, but only speaks when it comes to Trig, their youngest son, because they share custody. Todd currently has a girlfriend, and Sarah also has a new boyfriend, former New York Rangers star Ron Duguay.
Sarah says their relationship is safe and comfortable and they realize they have a lot in common when Dugay shows her New York City. Here’s what Sarah said about her new boyfriend: “Ron is the first person that I’ve ever even talked to about a lot of this personal stuff. So it’s been helpful and refreshing to have Ron to talk to about not just politics, because he’s got more common sense in his little finger than the collective in DC, but just about life ”.
Duguay is with Sarah and supports her in what she does, especially now that she is running for Alaska’s at-large congressional seat.
It is very difficult to go through a divorce after such a long period of time, but fortunately Sarah managed to get over this separation and found a man who understands her and helps her fulfill her dreams.
