It doesn’t matter who we are, we are going to run into a situation where we are up against a force that is just too much for us to handle. Even if you feel as if you’re in a very good situation, you need to prepare yourself for that inevitability. Some people who feel as if they are in a solid situation are teachers who teach young children. Many of them will tell you, however, that it doesn’t take long for them to learn that they still need to learn a thing or two. That was the case with this teacher, and a student who had an answer that she couldn’t deny. Enjoy the joke:
Teacher: “If I gave you two cats and another two cats and then another two, how many would you have?”
Johnny: “Seven!”
Teacher: “No no, listen carefully… If I gave you two cats, and another two cats and another two, how many would you have?”
Johnny: “Seven.” Gets frustrated
The teacher rubs her temples and takes a deep breath.
Teacher: “Come on Johnny, you’re better than this. Let me put it to you differently. If I gave you two apples, and another two apples and another two, how many would you have?”
Johnny: “Six.”
Teacher: “Good. Now, if I gave you two cats, and another two cats and then another two, how many would you have?”
Johnny: “Seven!”
Teacher: “Johnny, where in the heck do you get seven from?!?”
Johnny: “Because I’ve already got a freaking cat!”
