A lady from Derbyshire overcame anorexia and now she is revealing her story to assist others who are suffering from the same thing.
Annie Windley weighed less than 29kg and was at risk of having a heart attack. The 21-year-old girl from Woolley Moor battled with anorexia for five years going through intensive care, hospital admissions, and more.
It is never too late to make a positive change, says Annie. She was diagnosed with eating disorders in 2012 and she faced very tough challenges.
Exercise had a great impact on her life. She has a passion for running and it gave her something to strive towards.
I am fortunate to have strong legs and a pounding heart, she says. I don’t spend my time monitoring calories and worrying about food.
Some days you will feel that recovery isn’t for you, you will feel dreadful and don’t feel the urge to eat, these are the days we precisely must continue.
We must demonstrate that we are capable of doing anything for our well-being. We don’t want to live a life full of regrets wishing we could have done and achieved things but we couldn’t because of anorexia.
