Parents Julie and Andy Kemp, were travelling home from church with their eight-year-old son Landon when all of a sudden tragedy struck and they were involved in a collision with an ambulance.
Sadly, Andy passed away instantly while his wife Julie struggled to remain conscious. Once medics arrived on the scene they were able to stabilize her, but they had no idea Landon remained in the car.
Eventually medics spotted his shoe and discovered him in the back seat. There was so much damage to the car Landon was hidden from their view.
Landon was unconscious and not breathing but medics managed to bring him back to life. The boy was airlifted to the hospital where he slipped away two more times. Things looked bleak for the young boy while his mother was told that his chances of his survival were slim.
Doctors informed her that even if the boy did survive there was a possibility he would not lead a normal life as he would be forever trapped in the body of an eight-year-old boy.
Julie’s life was difficult the following two weeks after the accident. First she had to bury her husband and watched her son fighting for her life.
It didn’t look Landon would pull through as he was still in a coma, until suddenly he opened his eyes. His mother and doctors were stunned to discover he didn’t suffer brain damage.
Once Landon woke up, Julie wasn’t sure how to tell her son about his father. She asked him if he knew what had happened to him, to which Landon replied:
“Yes, I saw him.” He claimed that he also saw one of his father’s friends who had died a month before his dad passed away. Landon also saw the friend’s son. “Never one of us said a word to each other, but we were just all standing there,” the boy recounted.
To Julie’s surprise, her son told her that among those he saw while he was in a coma were his mom’s two other children. She didn’t understand what he was talking about at first, but then she remembered.
